As an integral part of the Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) team the Mental Health Professional/Substance Use Professional (MHP/SAP) gives clinical supervision and oversight for the team to provide tailored services so the consumers can grow through the CCS program. The CCS program helps individuals live their best lives by providing supports and services to address their unique needs related to mental health and substance use. The MHP/SAP serves as a leader, assisting staff in learning and increasing clinical skills to assist our consumers in overcoming barriers and meeting their goals.

The MHP/SAP will assess the need for psychosocial rehabilitation services and assist staff in identifying appropriate services to address identified barriers to recovery; review and process assessments, treatment plans, and required other clinical documentation; participate as a member of the recovery team by attending team meetings, developing rapport with individual and team, and providing clinical guidance; provide clinical consultation, recommendations, and support to the CCS Care Coordinators, Intake Coordinator, and Ancillary staff through individual, group, and side-by-side supervision; work with the leadership team to provide initial and ongoing training for staff and implement policies and policy changes; and coordinate quality care for consumers with Milwaukee County Behavioral Health Services.

Competencies:

  • High level of mental health and substance abuse clinical knowledge and skills with the ability to clearly communicate these to others
  • Prior experience working with individuals from diverse economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Experience with Trauma Informed Care and harm reduction approaches
  • Excellent assessment skills
  • High level of skill in organization, attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Ability to navigate and communicate effectively in potential emergency situations
  • Ability to promote positive working relationships with others
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Outlook, Word, and Excel)

Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree from an accredited school in Social Work, Counseling, or related field
  • State of Wisconsin Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) OR State of Wisconsin Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) OR State of Wisconsin Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT)
  • Minimum of two years of experience providing services to adults with significant mental health, substance abuse, or co-occurring needs
  • Pass a pre-employment background check
  • Valid driver’s license and automobile with insurance
  • Pre-employment background check and annual tuberculosis testing and flu vaccinations as required by Milwaukee County
