Comprehensive Community Services (CCS) is a recovery-focused, rehabilitative, and integrated behavioral health program for adults with severe mental illness and/or substance use disorders. The program is person-centered and uses consumer-directed service plans to describe the individualized services that will support the consumer in achieving their recovery goals

The Certified Peer Support Specialist will work under the CCS system of care which includes a set of values that emphasize individualized, strengths-based, trauma-informed, person-centered, harm-reduction focused, community-based, and culturally sensitive care. The Certified Peer Support Specialist is responsible for helping our consumers develop individual skills to navigate personalized goals. They meet and work with the individual’s service providers and other team supports that assist in their progression through the CCS program. The Certified Peer Support Specialist receives consultation from the mental health and substance use professionals while working on the individual’s recovery plan of care.


  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse economic, racial, and ethnic backgrounds
  • Training and experience providing skill development services to competently work in this scope of practice
  • High level of skill in organization, attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time
  • Proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office applications including Word and Excel and web-enabled databases
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Fluency in Spanish, oral and written, preferred
  • Previous experience providing strengths-based, client-centered, trauma-informed care


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Peer Support Specialist through the State of Wisconsin
  • One year of experience working in either the mental health or substance abuse field preferred
  • Personal experience with successful sobriety and/or mental health recovery for at least the last year
  • Pass a pre-employment background check
  • Valid driver’s license and insured automobile
