The Education Manager is a full-time, benefited, overtime-exempt position. This position manages the education program both in the community and on-site at the Broadway Theatre Center, including, but not limited to, the KidsWrites Program, Songbook, Teen Residency Programs, Touring Shows, the Student Matinee Series, the High School Musical Celebration, and the Skylight Summer Music Theatre Workshop.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain, evaluate, and grow partnerships between area education entities and Skylight Music Theatre
  • Serve as a Teaching Artist and develop curriculum for MPS partner high schools
  • Be available to direct and/or choreograph any of the education program productions or oversee directors and choreographers who are hired from outside the company in consultation with Artistic Director.
  • Develop curriculum and oversee in-school writing and music theatre activities through residences and workshops in MPS partner elementary schools
  • Coordinate, hire, train, manage, schedule, and evaluate education department personnel
  • Collaborate with the Artistic Director to create and oversee a budget for all programming
  • Develop and conduct evaluative reports for each program with a Grants Manager and/or Development Team
  • Guide relationships between Skylight departments (development, administrative, marketing, artistic, facilities) for continued support of Skylight Education programming
  • Conduct all scheduling and act as on-site support for in-house programming
  • Direct programming, scheduling, and outreach for the Skylight Summer Music Theatre Workshop
  • Schedule all touring shows (Standard Songbook and KidsWrites) and manage the administrative aspects of the tour
  • Develop long-range plans and goals for the education program in collaboration with the Artistic Director and Artistic Staff
  • Build and maintain strong relationships within the greater Milwaukee education and arts community to augment awareness of education issues and trends

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:

The Education Manager reports to the Artistic Director.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidates should have:

  • At least undergraduate college degree preferred
  • Multi-year experience as a teaching artist in music theatre, (multi-disciplinary skills preferred)
  • Directing and Choreography experience a big plus
  • Experience working with or teaching in urban school districts
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of current trends in arts education curriculum and ability to connect programs to meet those trends
  • Proficient in MS Office programs
  • Ability to lead and manage staff
  • Excellent people skills, a sense of humor, energy and drive.

Salary: $37,000-$40,000 depending on experience.

Starting Date: As close to August 15, 2025 as possible.
