Job Purpose: Coordinate the implementation of activities that support the achievement of the Foster Grandparent Program Goals.

Essential Duties:

  • Enhancing the total program effort through active involvement with community organizations, other national service programs, and other senior and volunteer programs.
  • Coordinate and monitor program activities including recruitment, in-service training, supervisory arrangements, and other activities in cooperation with the program director and appropriate volunteer station staff.
  • Coordinating Foster Grandparent assignments including assisting volunteer station staff to develop volunteer assignment plans and volunteer activities and monitoring progress toward achieving the expected outcomes and impact specified in assignment plans.
  • Assessing appropriateness and performance of volunteer stations.
  • Plan and conduct orientation responsibilities and regular in-service training to explain policies, enhance skills related to assignments, provide information concerning community services available to low-income older persons, and arrange for group discussion to share experiences and address issues.
  • Perform Host Site visits to maintain an ongoing relationship with their supervisors and ensure compliance;
  • Maintain a working knowledge of state and federal program guidelines and regulations. Attend required trainings (state, regional and national conferences and conference calls) and any training to improve or enrich program development.
  • Maintain positive collaborative relationships with all program related partners.
  • Perform volunteer management tasks, including recruitment, on-boarding, placement, training, support, evaluation and recognition.
  • Conduct annual trainings of site supervisor.
  • Assist with budget preparation and budget management.
  • Perform host site management tasks, including recruitment, support, data gathering, and evaluation, including annual site visits.
  • In conjunction with Program Director, conduct program evaluation and analysis related to program impact and outcomes. Use data collected from evaluations to improve the program and volunteer experience.
  • In conjunction with Site Supervisors, conduct an annual appraisal of volunteers’ performance and annual review of their income eligibility.
  • Promote program awareness by developing and distributing informational materials through networking with internal and external partners and stakeholders
  • Participate in the Foster Grandparent Program team and support the Program Manager and other team members. Collaborate on projects and events such as volunteer recognition and monthly in-service meetings
  • Assist with database maintenance and record-keeping.
  • Attend and participate in trainings, conferences and meetings set by the program to improve knowledge and execution of program activities.
  • Complete monthly reporting as defined by the program funders and quality department.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
  • Experience with database management including data entry, report queries, and data maintenance.
  • Experience with managing community collaborations and partnerships. Experience working within the school setting preferred.
  • Ability to work with persons of diverse age, ethnicity, ability, and socioeconomic status
  • Experience working with the elderly and with diverse populations
  • Must successfully pass the federal, sex offenders, and fingerprinting process.
  • Must have a valid Wisconsin Driver’s License. SDC’s insurance company requires that any employee who drives a personal vehicle for agency business must carry personal liability insurance of at least $100,000 liability for bodily injury for one person, $300,000 maximum liability for all injuries in one accident and $100,000 property damage liability for one accident.  Proof of this must be supplied on first day of employment.


  • Bachelor’s degree in human services or related field and 3 years of successful experience in program coordination, volunteer management, and budget tracking & reporting
  • OR any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

The incumbent will regularly sit, and will frequently talk and listen and use hands to handle or touch.  Specific vision requirements for this position include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. During the performance of his/her duties, the incumbent will regularly lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 25 pounds.
