POSITION SUMMARY:
The Difference Principle, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to assisting other nonprofits in realizing their visions and fulfilling their missions. We offer high quality back-office administration and support services to independent nonprofit organizations in addition to our two social justice subsidiary organizations/agencies, JusticePoint and Sirona Recovery.
This position will support the accounting team with day-to-day accounting activities for multiple independent nonprofit organizations, as well as The Difference Principle and its subsidiaries. This will include assisting with accounts payable and receivable, payroll support, daily financial entries, monthly reconciliations, and routine reporting. This role will also help maintain accurate records, support internal processes, and collaborate with team members to ensure timely and efficient financial operations.
CLIENT AND AGENCY-RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with daily entry of transactions into the accounting system
- Assist with depositing checks and recording related accounts receivable entries
- Assist with the weekly processing of accounts payable
- Assist with 1099 Preparation
- Set up new vendors in accounting and payment systems and collect required forms such as W-9s
- Support month-end close activities, including preparing journal entries and reconciliations
- Provide administrative support for payroll processing, including organizing documentation and updating records
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and other special projects as needed
- Perform other duties as assigned

- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial practices

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) from an accredited four-year college or university in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field with relevant experience also considered
- Experience in an accounting role is a plus, but not required
- Proficiency in Excel and Microsoft Suites
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and a willingness to learn
- Experience in nonprofit or governmental accounting is a plus
