Job Title: Meal Program Manager
General Description: Management of all aspects of the Gathering Community Meal Programs; breakfast, lunch and dinner meals, volunteers, and the Fresh Produce Preservation Project. Work schedule Tuesday through Saturday.
Reports to: Executive Director
Understanding of and commitment to The Gathering’s mission to feed Milwaukee’s hungry and homeless with dignity and respect
Skills Needed:
- Bachelor’s degree required (experience will be taken into consideration)
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing programs
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience hiring, training, evaluating, and managing staff
- Ability to handle and prioritize several tasks at one time
- Excellent computer skills – working knowledge of excel required
Duties:
- Responsible for the overall operation of The Gathering’s Community Meal Programs; including the hiring, training, evaluation and managing of program staff:

- General oversight of the Breakfast Program – staff, volunteers, and operations; including inventory
- General oversight of the Dinner Program – staff, volunteers, and operations; including inventory
- General oversight of the Saturday Lunch Program – Volunteers, staff, and operations; including recruitment, training, management, scheduling, communication with the Saturday volunteer cooks and coordinators and volunteer serving individuals and groups
- General oversight of the operations of the Fresh Produce Preservation Project – staff, volunteers, operations, and pounds preserved
- General oversight of the Driver to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of supplies
- Work directly with the Breakfast and Dinner Coordinators to ensure the smooth operation of each meal site

- Be on site at the Breakfast program 2 – 3 times each week
- Be on site at the Dinner Program 1 time each week
- Work with established groups and recruit new groups to provide Saturday Bag Lunches for distribution at Meal sites.
- Gather accurate information to complete monthly report for TEFAP/Hunger Task Force on number of guests served at each meal and inventory on hand per HTF reporting system-due 5th of the month
- Gather accurate information of number of guests served through additional guest programming (i.e., mental health services, medical, legal, supply distributions, etc.) for quarterly reporting
- Maintain open communication with other organizations that are also utilizing Gathering meal site locations for collaborative programming
- Maintain relationships with United Way Volunteer Center, United Way Days of Caring, Marquette Hunger Clean-Up, Komatsu, Baird, and other partner organizations
- Network with other agencies in the hunger community or those serving similar populations
- Provide staff support to Program Committee & Volunteer Committee
- Participate in Gathering staff meetings, team building, trainings, and other activities
Requirements:
- ServeSafe certified
- Car, insurance, and valid driver’s license
- COVID 19 vaccinated
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility & Dependability
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills
- Computer savvy able to use Microsoft Office; good working knowledge of Excel
- Able to sit/stand for long periods of time
- Able to lift 25 pounds
Compensation: Full Time Salaried Position – Tuesday – Saturday work schedule – salary based on experience $40,000 – $46,000 annually
