About Tippecanoe Presbyterian Church
Tippecanoe (“Tippe”) is shaped by its identity as a Matthew 25 church, focusing on ministries that address social injustice and equity. Our Missions support people experiencing houselessness, food insecurity and also providing enriched literacy programming to children in our community. Our community is invested in participating in solutions that create accessibility for all people. We encourage shared leadership models and collaborate with other faith communities and grassroots organizations who work alongside us in our ministries.
We are seeking a Missions Lead Associate to join our team in supporting our established “Divine Intervention” warming room. We encourage people with experience in the fields of social work, public health, or ministry to apply. We do not require this person to be religious or spiritual or to observe any faith tradition.
The Missions Lead Associate will be working alongside our full-time pastor and a full-time administrative assistant. This person is expected to bring their own passions, skills, and interests to collaborate with the pastor and administrative assistant to ensure smooth functioning of an established program and encourage individual and team growth and development.
Our Divine Intervention ministry partners with the City of Milwaukee in providing a warm, safe place overnight for people without shelter from December through March, seven nights a week, including all holidays. We train and support volunteers who make up the majority of our staff. A volunteer from each nightly team stays awake for part of the night to provide support and ensure safety. Trained pastoral staff members from the community provide on call support each night.
Job Summary
The Missions Lead Associate is part of the leadership team and is responsible for recruiting and training volunteers, coordinating the volunteer schedule, providing some overnight on call support, and developing strategies and coordinating logistics that support our primary mission of supporting people without shelter through our Divine Intervention warming room.
The Missions Lead Associate will be instrumental in visioning and further developing our outreach to those experiencing housing instability and food insecurity.
