Starting Compensation: $43,000/year

Location: Riverside Park, Milwaukee, WI (in-person) 

Schedule:.Tuesday-Saturday; the schedule will reflect the center’s open hours.

Position Summary: As a Branch Operations Coordinator at the UEC, you will provide key operational and communication support to the UEC staff community at the Branch, while supporting all engagement initiatives at the branch. You delight in nailing the details that impact experience and organizational culture. You will be highly collaborative and build relationships with and connections among staff, key partners, volunteers, and the community.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

COMMUNITY CENTER OPERATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Serve as the primary coordinator of branch reception, including the staffing schedule and all elements of reception operations, including coordinating building and park tours, being the primary point of contact for building related incidents, and managing opening and closing procedures. 
  • Lead the onsite visitor experience, including welcoming and engaging visitors, maintaining a safe and responsive space for staff and visitors, promoting engagement participation, and maintaining up-to-date information stations and community resources.
  • Support the planning, execution, and follow-up of large community events (HKE MKE, Take It Outside Day, Autumn Celebration)
  • Collaboratively coordinate the visitor experience-related exhibits and passive engagement activities (with internal and external partners), including management of the branch’s art gallery.

INTERNAL BRANCH OPERATIONS

  • Serve as primary liaison for UEC led-and-supported meetings, including affinity groups, community meetings, branch events, and other internal collaborative sessions.
  • Coordinate both office supply inventory and organizational equipment inventory in collaboration with other branch coordinators and community programs; support employee equipment lending benefit operations.
  • Lead monthly update-style branch meetings; prepare agenda, take notes, and encourage departmental representation and participation.
  • Support volunteer engagement, including drop-in volunteer opportunities such as Park Rangers, and serve as a branch resource for individuals and groups.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Outdoor Leaders’ community engagement efforts by providing mentorship and supervision of assignments and projects. 
  • Provide branch support to Events & Rentals team:  lead rental inquiry tours,  support rental set-up and signage, and support for event supply delivery during branch open hours. This may also include management of Milwaukee County Parks and similar permitting processes for organizational events at the location.

SUPPORT FOR ORGANIZATIONAL OPERATIONS

  • In collaboration with other Branch Operations Coordinators, serve as a steward of the organization’s internal communications strategy and plan; provide support and guidance to continuously improve our communication.
  • Collaboratively manage the organization-wide All Staff Calendar and internal resource management for all-staff events on Altru, our CRM.
  • Manage the UEC general email inbox and ensure that all questions and comments are redirected to the appropriate people/departments
  • Manage the translation of all public UEC materials from English to Spanish.

Required Qualifications: 

  • First Aid/CPR Certification (UEC will provide training as needed).
  • 4 years of professional work experience or post-secondary education.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Non-profit experience is recommended.
  • Experience utilizing the Google platform, fundraising/CRM software, and graphic design/communication platforms such as Canva is recommended.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting for prolonged periods, typing on a computer keyboard, lifting objects of 25 pounds or less.

What does a typical workday look like?

  • Condition & Location: Open office workspace with an active team atmosphere; you will have a dedicated workspace at your assigned branch.
  • Weekly hours: 40 hours
  • Schedule: Tuesday-Saturday. The schedule will reflect the center’s open hours.
  • Equipment Used: Computer equipment, CRM/fundraising software, Google software

Team and Supervision

  • As a member of the Neighborhood Engagement team, you will be managed by the Branch Director at your assigned branch and will be the on-site supervisor of the High School Outdoor Leaders.
  • As a member of your branch team, you will be managed by the site’s Branch Director, with additional support provided by Leadership Circle and department managers.
  • Though all of our teams work together in some capacity, you will most frequently collaborate with the Neighborhood Engagement Team, Community Programs Team, and Committee leads. 
  • In this role, you may support many organizational circles and committees, including Employee Engagement, Equity, Dignity, and Justice, Safety, or other related initiatives.
  • All UEC team members should expect interaction with volunteers, members, and youth participants.

Organizational Support

  • All team members of the Urban Ecology Center work a minimum of 1-2 weekend or evening events each year. Our events are a great way to engage with our communities and see our mission in action; examples include Urban Candlelight Hike, Autumn Celebration, and HKE MKE. Some roles may have increased responsibility for event leadership.
