The Wisconsin Historical Foundation is a nonprofit organization which exists to advance the mission of the Wisconsin Historical Society, a state agency which connects people to the past by collecting, preserving, and sharing stories.

The Wisconsin Historical Foundation exists to support the Wisconsin Historical Society (WHS) and further their mission of collecting, preserving, and sharing history. As a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, the Foundation receives grants and private contributions benefiting the Society, administers the membership program and provides marketing and communications services for the Society.

Position Purpose

The Wisconsin Historical Foundation is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Temporary Website Project Assistant to support the development of our new website, launching in Umbraco. This part-time, hybrid role will help the project team by preparing and building web pages, keeping tasks organized, and ensuring content and documentation are accurate and up to date. This is a great opportunity to gain hands-on experience with digital content management and website production in a collaborative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with building and updating web pages in Umbraco using provided content and templates
  • Format and upload text, images, and documents to ensure pages are consistent, clear, and accessible
  • Update and maintain task lists in Asana, marking progress and adding notes as directed by the project manager
  • Follow up with page builders and content contributors to collect materials or confirm progress
  • Record and organize issues, bugs, or questions so they can be addressed by the project team
  • Help review completed pages for accuracy, completeness, and formatting
  • Keep project documentation organized and current

Qualifications

  • Basic experience with or interest in website content management (Umbraco experience is a plus; training will be provided)
  • Organized, dependable, and attentive to detail
  • Comfortable using project management tools like Asana
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to follow instructions, ask questions, and work both independently and as part of a team
  • Interest in digital content, web development, or public history is a plus

Additional Details

  • This is a temporary, part-time position for approximately five months with the possibility to extend the appointment.
  • Approximately no more than 25 hours per week
  • Pay up to $22.00 per hour
  • This is a hybrid position with some onsite work expected in Madison, Wisconsin 

Compensation

Hourly Wage: $22.00

Hybrid Workplace

This position is eligible for hybrid or remote work. The team member is required to attend monthly planning meetings in-person, as well as the occasional staff-wide retreats and gatherings.
