The Wisconsin Voices Data Manager will work in close collaboration with staff and partners to process partner data related requests; provide technical support and training; provide campaign design support and tracking processes for coordinated campaigns, regranted partner campaigns, and programs in a manner conducive to reporting as well as improving the year-after-year outcome of the campaigns and programs.

The Wisconsin Voices Data Manager will provide input and work in close collaboration with other staff to research and onboard new tech and tools, as well as set up backend infrastructure for existing tech and tools and data collection and maintenance.

This is a full-time salaried position. The position will be in person at the Milwaukee office, so applicants must live in or willing to relocate to the Greater Milwaukee area within 2 months of hire. Applicants must have access to reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, and liability insurance if they will use a personal vehicle for work purposes when required. Some in-city, in-state, and out-of-state (overnight) travel may be required.

Core Job Duties:

  • Promote partner use of the Voter Activation Network (VAN) and the internal system for requesting data and tool support and training, then provide day to day and ongoing support and training.
  • In collaboration with other staff, design internal field, text, and phone campaigns and implement processes for tracking the outcomes. Additionally, in collaboration with other staff, provide support to partners in designing field, text, and phone campaigns and ensure the partner has the access and ability to track the outcomes through provision of training and support.
  • Provide partner support regarding phonebank, turf, walk, and text bank list and script creation using various best practices and current recommendations for script structure and messaging that best suits the partner requesting support.
  • Provide partner support regarding all other tech and tools being used by or provided to partners by Wisconsin Voices to implement and track campaigns and programs, possibly including but not limited to SPOKE, HUSTLE, BLOCK, Action Network; EveryAction; Mobilize; Slack; Zoom; Teams; G suite; etc.
  • Utilize existing tech and tool training materials to provide training to partners and staff related to data, tech, and tools, and consistently evolve those materials with an eye towards their being current and appealing to a diverse audience made up of different learning styles and aptitudes and meeting individuals where they are at with their learning journey.
  • In close collaboration with the Co-Executive Director of Organizational Empowerment, establish backend code and tag-scapes in new and existing tools overall and per campaign, and ensure incoming data is tracked appropriately and backend tag scapes are maintained in an ongoing manner. Generate weekly, monthly, and end of project reports using this data as requested.
  • Conduct tech and tool research projects for Wisconsin Voices and partners seeking to onboard new tech and tools related to program, project, and or campaign tracking and implementation geared towards making recommendations for onboarding new tech and tools based on cost, capacity, and functionality.
  • Perform data compilation, cleaning, entry, and maintenance projects as needed by staff and partners.
  • Schedule and complete monthly one-on-ones with assigned partners who are using Wisconsin Voices provided tech and tools to ensure a close and productive relationship is maintained and report out on these one-on-ones in staff meetings.
  • Design and provide current tech and tools and data training for staff and partners as an intro for new staff and partners and a refresher for existing staff and partners.
  • Form and maintain positive relationships with tech and tool vendors and support staff.
  • Stay apprised of current changes and trends in data, tech and tools that are relevant to the work Wisconsin Voices and our partners do and seek out and take part in ongoing professional development opportunities to advance continued skill development.
  • Participate in weekly check-ins with direct supervisor, weekly staff meetings, and other staff and partner meetings as needed.
  • Staff all Wisconsin Voices hosted events and activities as requested by management and attending partner events and activities when possible.
  • Other relevant job duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ (cycles acceptable) experience:
    • Utilizing the Voter Activation Network for candidate and or political campaign activities, either as paid staff or as a volunteer. This experience must include list creation, turf cutting, script creation, and virtual phonebank set up.
    • Providing training and support for either staff and or volunteers implementing door to door canvasses, text banks, and phonebanks for a political cause or candidate.
  • Ability to create step-by-step training materials considering the basic types of learning and communication styles that result in the average individual being able to learn and develop adequate proficiency in data related concepts, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to learn or devise complex data concepts, but design external processes and procedures to be as simple as possible. Proven ability to understand what is important to be tracked versus what is not important, and what is relevant to funders, partners, and staff in relation to analysis and impact.
  • Proficient or advanced skill set related to use of Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Docs and Spreadsheets, PowerPoint and Google Slides, and Microsoft Outlook email management.
  • Experience working in and with oppressed and minority communities and a proven ability to effectively communicate and form productive relationships with individuals from differing social, racial, economic, cultural, and educational backgrounds and lived experiences.
  • A passion for learning about and working on a wide array of progressive issues with the goal being to improve the day to day and long-term quality of life for all of us in Wisconsin, and either the desire or the ability to effectively communicate how and why data is used to advance this goal.

Desired Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 2 years working for a political non-profit in Wisconsin providing field and data support for campaigns.
  • A minimum of 1 year of experience providing technical support related to software and or tech and tools platform to a minimum staff or customer base of 50+ individuals.
  • Previous experience managing multiple VAN or EveryAction Committees.
  • Advanced Excel Function and or experience in scrubbing data sets using Excel.
  • Some experience with conducting target research using VAN and Census data.
  • Bi-lingual a plus.

Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time salaried position with a starting salary range of $50,000.00-$60,000.00, commiserate with experience and skill sets upon offer of employment. This position also includes a majority employer paid health, dental, and vision policy, an employer matched 401k plan, as well as cellphone reimbursement and a generous sick and other paid time off package.
