Board Member

GiGi’s Playhouse Milwaukee is seeking passionate, community-connected leaders to serve on our Executive Board. As part of a national network of 62+ Down Syndrome Achievement Centers, our Milwaukee Playhouse is 99% volunteer-run and 100% community-funded. We provide free educational, therapeutic, and career-development programming that empowers individuals with Down syndrome from prenatal diagnosis through adulthood.

This is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping advance our mission of global acceptance for all.

We are looking for individuals who:

• Are passionate advocates for inclusion and acceptance
• Have strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
• Bring leadership experience from nonprofit, corporate, community, or volunteer settings
• Are connected to the Milwaukee community and excited to help expand awareness and support for GiGi’s Playhouse Milwaukee
• Value teamwork, positivity, and servant leadership

Commitment & Schedule

• Board Meetings: 2 hours, once per month
• Monthly Commitment: Approximately 8–10 hours per month, including meetings, outreach and fundraising & event support.

Core Responsibilities

Board Officers work collaboratively with fellow board members, volunteers, and staff to support the Playhouse’s mission and long-term success.

Governance & Leadership

• Support strategic planning and organizational growth
• Participate in monthly board meetings 
• Help identify and recruit future board and volunteer leaders
• Uphold the mission, values, and standards of GiGi’s Playhouse

Community Engagement & Advocacy

• Serve as an ambassador for GiGi’s Playhouse within the Milwaukee community
• Build relationships with local businesses, community partners, donors, and families
• Promote the “Generation G” philosophy of acceptance, generosity, and kindness

Financial & Organizational Support

• Support fundraising initiatives, sponsorship outreach, and donor stewardship
• Help ensure responsible financial oversight and sustainability
