AGENCY: Our Runaway & Teen Crisis Program provides temporary shelter and crisis to youth in crisis ages 11-17 who are experiencing family or other problems.  This program provides a safe and legal alternative to the streets for runaway and homeless youth, as well as offering a neutral space where problem-solving can take place for both the youth and the family. We help youth to decide upon a future course of action which is positive and in their best interest.

PURPOSE: To provide individual and family intervention including counseling, case development, implementation and management, advocacy, referral and follow-up/aftercare; to participate in the development, nurturance and continuance of the philosophy, values and goals of the agency.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Therapy/Case Coordination – Residents:  Provide individual and family counseling to youth and their families.  The counseling intervention shall include:  development of a problem-goal focused individualized plan, assessment of assets and resources, engagement and motivation of youth and family in a therapeutic process, coordination of resident activities with other staff, advocacy, referral, facilitate attainment of treatment goals, and follow-up/aftercare activities.
  2. Therapy/Case Coordination – Non-Residents:  Provide individual and/or family counseling to youth and their families on a non-residential basis.  The intervention activities shall include:  development of intervention plan, assessment of assets and resources, engagement and motivation of individual or family in therapeutic process and facilitate attainment of treatment goals.
  3. Consultation:  Provide consultation to other staff in person or by telephone when required in areas of case management, intake process, and shelter-care activities and services.
  4. Shelter-Care:  Participation in shelter-care activities by providing consistent, caring and supportive residential shelter services for adolescents.  This includes:  meeting the physical and emotional needs of the youth housed, communicating effectively with the youth, accepting phone calls, assisting the Youth and Family Specialist in the resolution of conflict.
  5. Volunteers:  Provide supervision of volunteers in the implementation of their duties, participate in their training, complete evaluations and paperwork and provide feedback as required.
  6. Outreach:  To participate in outreach activities and present the agency’s program and philosophy to the general public, individuals and groups.
  7. Record Keeping:  Complete accurately all records associated with residential/non-residential case files, log entries, forms, memos and outreach forms.
  8. Staff Development:  Actively participate in agency staff development and training programs, and regularly attend consultations and scheduled training sessions.
  9. Agency Evaluation and Planning:  Actively participate in agency evaluation and planning activities.
  10. Other Duties may be assigned from time to time.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:  Schedule will be Tuesday-Saturday 40 hours/week with flexibility. MS degree in counseling, MSW degree or equivalent Masters level social service degree; strong communication skills (oral and written) and working knowledge of computer software; access to car, valid Wisconsin drivers license and proof (and maintenance) of auto insurance; ability to climb stairs, and some lifting. LPC-IT or APSW will be considered, but LCSW or LPC three years post-independent licensure or ability to supervise preferred.

Compensation Rate: $62,800 annually if unable to supervise, will be adjusted higher (approx. $75,000) if LCSW with ability to supervise.
