Posted May 28, 2025 | the Jobs That Help team
We are proud to have helped over 340 organizations fill over 1,450 opportunities last year, with the site averaging more than 50,000 page views each month in 2024, and thousands of visitors weekly.
The Most Popular Jobs

Our most popular jobs of 2024 are reflected in the wordcloud above, which consists of the position titles of the 100 job posts that received the most application button clicks last year, with the titles that were found multiple times in these job posts (such as “Office Manager”) represented by being larger in size in the wordcloud.
The wordcloud (full-size image) reflects the diverse interests and skillsets of our job seekers. It encompasses the full spectrum of experience levels, from entry-level (e.g. intern, assistant, associate) to mid-level (e.g. specialist, coordinator, manager) to senior (e.g. director, executive), as well as the range of fields (operations, administration, human services, development and fundraising, communications and marketing, shelter and housing, advocacy and legal services, youth and children’s services, education, information technology, executive leadership, and more) found within our nonprofit sector.
Job Openings by Type

In 2024, Jobs That Help had the following types of opportunities posted (some are counted more than once in this case, if a job post was tagged as having both full-time and part-time options, for instance):
- 1,183 full-time jobs
- 266 part-time jobs
- 78 internships
- 67 other jobs (such as seasonal or temporary jobs, on-call positions, etc.)
- 20 board positions
- 15 AmeriCorps positions
Job Openings by Field
As detailed in the chart below, which shows the percentage of opportunities that were posted in each field in 2024, the 1,450+ opportunities that were posted to our Job Listings last year reflect the the broad range of fields found within our nonprofit sector.

The “Other Fields” in the chart above include information technology, executive leadership, healthcare, animal welfare, board and committee service, employment and workforce development, environmental and horticultural, food services, human resources, spirituality and religion, security, and transportation.
We saw several changes from 2023 in the percentage of opportunities posted in each field. The largest changes were opportunities in the administrative field decreasing from roughly 10% to 7%, the shelter and housing services field decreasing from roughly 9% to 6%, the development and fundraising field increasing from roughly 9% to 11%, and the youth and children’s services field increasing from roughly 5.5% to 7.5%, with changes in all other fields measuring 1% or less.
Our Organizations’ Missions
Of the more than 340 organizations that posted opportunities in 2024, they reflect a similarly broad range of missions from those in 2023, serving many different needs, as shown in the chart below.

The “Other Areas” in the chart above include: agriculture, food, and nutrition; employment and workforce development; animal welfare; public safety, disaster preparedness, and relief; and others.
We also continued to see a steady growth of new organizations registering employer accounts in 2024, welcoming over 160 new organizations to Jobs That Help last year.
Job Seeker Activity

As reflected by the robust range of connections, outreach, and marketing strategies to job seekers that we engage in, we have continued to draw a wide audience to Jobs That Help. Of the thousands of weekly visitors to the site, an average of 71% each week in 2024 were new visitors, and roughly one in four visits to the site were from a neighboring state (especially the Chicagoland area).

A little over a third (37%) of our visitors navigated directly to us (typing our URL into their browser), 18% through organic search engine results (such as finding us via Google), 16% through social media, 15% through paid search engine results (such as through ads we place on Google and Bing search results), 8% through email and e-newsletters, and 6% through referrals from the many websites that link to us.
We also saw over 470 resumes posted to our Resume Bank last year, with our job seekers registering an average of 64 job seeker accounts each month to post a resume or access other features (such as our Job Alerts, which delivered posted opportunities directly to the inboxes of job seekers thousands of times last year).
In addition, we sent monthly e-newsletters to our 4,500+ job seeker subscribers (subscribe to our job seeker or employer e-newsletter, if you aren’t subscribed already!), highlighting the opportunities on our Job Listings and other resources and events.
Strength of Featured Posts

Our featured posts continued to perform strongly in 2024, gathering an average of 47% more page views and 43% more clicks to apply, as compared to job posts that weren’t featured on our Job Listings and social media channels (which now include 6,500+ followers, covering Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Threads, X, and Bluesky).
Our Featured Post thus continues to be ideal for positions that need to be filled quickly, are especially important to gather the most skilled or diverse applications for, or simply when the budget allows.
Additional Factors for Job Post Performance
We analyzed all 1,450+ job posts published in 2024 to see how job posts that included wage or salary details performed in comparison to those job posts that didn’t include those details.
In addition, we analyzed the performance of job posts that included a mention of benefits in 2024 to see how they performed in comparison to those job posts that didn’t include any mention of benefits.
Lastly, we began tracking the performance of job posts that specified whether the opportunity was hybrid or remote in 2024. This has allowed us to analyze for the first time how hybrid and remote job posts have performed in comparison to job posts for opportunities that didn’t specify being either hybrid or remote and were (presumably) fully on-site.
Including Wage and Salary Details
Job posts that included wage or salary details (either a specific amount or a range) saw, on average, the following improved performance:
- 21% increase in clicks to apply
- 42% increase in page views
- 109% increase in entrances*

Including Benefits Details
Job posts that included at least a mention of benefits (e.g. at least “benefits included,” if not a list of the specific benefits offered) saw, on average, the following improved performance:
- 7% increase in clicks to apply
- 17% increase in page views
- 54% increase in entrances*

Hybrid Opportunities
Job posts that specified that the opportunity was hybrid saw, on average, the following improved performance compared to opportunities that were (presumably) fully on-site:
- 20% increase in clicks to apply
- 16% increase in page views
- 30% increase in entrances*

Remote Opportunities
Job posts that specified that the opportunity was fully remote saw, on average, the following improved performance compared to opportunities that were (presumably) fully on-site:
- 120% increase in clicks to apply
- 96% increase in page views
- 158% increase in entrances*

*Entrances refer to how many times visitors came directly to the job post from where they saw it elsewhere online, indicative of how much interest the job post is generating.
In 2024, only 51% of jobs posted on Jobs That Help included wage or salary details (though we are happy to see this increase from about 25% in 2021, 34% in 2022, and 46% in 2023 on Jobs That Help) and only 54% of jobs posted on Jobs That Help mentioned benefits (even though there were many more jobs posted that did in fact include benefits!). If your job posts don’t include these details (or are hybrid or remote, but don’t mention this), we strongly encourage adding this information to increase the effectiveness of your job posts.
