Good Trouble – Part 1

The Nonprofit Academy of Wisconsin is hosting a free two-part webinar on “the dos and don’ts of advocacy and lobbying”:

Join the conversation and learn some effective methods of public policy and advocacy through direct contact with decision-makers and through grassroots campaigns.

Nonprofits have a responsibility to represent the interests of the people and communities they serve through public education, public policy advocacy, and by engaging in the public affairs of the community.   This is a two-part series on February 10th and February 17th at 9 a.m. central time.  You will have to register for both sessions to attend both.

In this series you will:

Learn what you can do
Brush up on your knowledge of what the law allows you to do in the public arena

What is advocacy?
Learn the dos and don’ts of advocacy

See what has worked
Examine real-life examples of nonprofit policy work

Find out how to engage
Explore ways in which you can engage in state and local policy work

Try it out
Participate in some practical lobbying exercises to learn the legislative process and how to be an advocate for the community and people you serve.

Good Trouble – Part 2 is on February 17th. You can take one of the two webinars, but we recommend taking them both to get the full picture.“
