Based at: COA’s Goldin Center (2320 West Burleigh Street)

Summary
The HIPPY (Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters) Program is accredited by HIPPY US. It teaches parents to be their child’s first teacher. COA is the only agency in Wisconsin that offers the HIPPY Program.
Main Job Responsibilities
Leadership
- Demonstrate a leadership style focusing on communication, coaching, and support but is willing to provide correction appropriately as needed.
- Complete annual performance reviews for all direct reports and set goals.
- Regularly meet with direct reports to meet program outcomes.
- Identify areas of professional development needed and work to develop, schedule, and facilitate training.
- Support with employee relations/personnel issues.
- Be able to answer questions about policies and procedures.
- Communicate details, rationale, and plan of action of agency-wide decisions.
Program
- Serves as primary liaison to HIPPY US and attends national conference (every other year)
- Maintain detailed, up-to-date knowledge of HIPPY US program standards.
- Plan and lead weekly program meeting and relevant trainings.
- Lead program recruitment and retention process, focused on the geographic coverage area of COA’s core neighborhoods of Amani (53206) and Riverwest (53212, 53202, and 53211)
- Maintain participant database and fulfill all reporting functions.
- Work with Lead Parent Partner to create client list and sensible schedules for Parent Partners.
- Conduct home visit observations three times per year as well as provide and document follow-up feedback and coaching.
- Plan and manage monthly Family Nights and other events.
- Plan and execute the annual graduation ceremony.
Administration
- Order, organize, inventory, and distribute curriculum materials.
- Upload all curriculum and other invoices to bill.com.
- Ensure staff stays on track with the 30-week curriculum.
- Meet monthly with Director of Finance for budget status meetings to ensure fiscal responsibility and management.
- Work with the Development Department for grant and other reporting.
- Support student interns and other education-based placements and volunteers.
- Ensure in-kind donations are accurately captured and reported.
- Ensure volunteer hours are accurately captured and reported.
Partnership & Collaboration
- Collaborate with other COA departments on resources, programs, and best practices.
- Maintains or delegates external partnerships, where appropriate, such as Milwaukee Public Library and National Council of Jewish Women as well Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers and other referring organizations.
- Attends the Young Child Wellness Council meetings.
- Leads coordination of HIPPY breakfast in partnership with NCJW (every 5 years)
Other
- Model appropriate behavior at all times. This includes developing and maintaining appropriate professional relationships and boundaries with colleagues, visitors, donors, and other stakeholders.
- Attend meetings, conferences, trainings, etc. as needed to remain current in industry knowledge.
- Serve as member of the Program Leadership Team.
Qualifications
Education / Knowledge / Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field required
- Minimum three years’ supervisory or progressive management experience required
- Proven knowledge of youth work and community engagement programming preferred
- Significant experience in program delivery and direct program management required
- Experience working with a diverse population required
- High proficiency in standard office software, especially Excel, required

Physical Requirements / Working Conditions
The physical requirements for this position are the ability to:
- Climb stairs
- Sit and stand for long periods of time
- Work with and in front of a computer for extended periods of time
The work environment is mainly an office environment, although the program sites are an active environment with urban youth and families in a variety of settings. This requires the ability to respond quickly to changing situations and be able to move around COA sites as needed. This position also requires some evening and weekend work.
