Make a Meaningful Difference in the Lives of Families Affected by Dementia

Community United Methodist Church of Elm Grove is seeking a compassionate, organized, and mission-driven Director to lead Friends in the Grove: Partners in Care, a volunteer-powered respite program supporting people living with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementias and their caregivers.

This is an opportunity to lead a meaningful community program while building relationships, empowering volunteers, and creating a welcoming and dependable experience for families.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the day-to-day operations and ongoing development of the respite program.
  • Recruit, train, schedule, support, and recognize volunteers.
  • Create a safe, welcoming, and compassionate environment for participants and caregivers.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for families and connect them with community resources.
  • Build relationships with dementia-care organizations and community partners.
  • Coordinate program activities, calendars, facilities, communications, and records.
  • Manage the program budget and assist with fundraising, grants, and donor communications.
  • Work closely with church leadership to ensure the program reflects the church’s mission and values.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness and identify opportunities to strengthen and expand services.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Has a genuine passion for serving people living with dementia and their caregivers.
  • Has experience leading or managing groups in ministry, healthcare, day care, education, or a related setting.
  • Is an effective communicator and relationship builder.
  • Has experience recruiting, coordinating, and supporting volunteers.
  • Is highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, dependability, discretion, and attention to detail.
  • Is committed to the mission and values of Community United Methodist Church of Elm Grove and Friends in the Grove Respite Partners.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field; experience with dementia care, caregiver support, fundraising, grants, budgeting, or nonprofit administration.
