CLIENT/DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW:

The American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS) is a membership organization comprised of rigorously trained skin cancer and reconstructive surgeons specializing in Mohs surgery, the most effective treatment for skin cancer today. The ACMS serves as the voice of the specialty, promoting and advancing the highest standards of patient care through fellowship training, research, education, and public advocacy.

JOB OVERVIEW:

Responsible for the overall direction and supervision of ACMS communications and public relations/marketing activities as related to the client’s mission and Strategic Plan.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (minimum of 37.5 hours/week):

  • Develop and direct a marketing communications strategy that supports the mission and strategic objectives of the ACMS. This includes print, web, social media, and mainstream media; and it is cross functioned to internal and external audiences.
  • Develop and maintain editorial, graphic, and branding standards for all ACMS communications and print collateral.
  • Responsible for the planning, development, and distribution of all member communications
  • Work with the President and Executive Director to write and distribute Member Alerts, President’s Letters to the membership and President’s presentation at the Annual Membership Business Meeting.
  • Direct the editorial content, production, and distribution of ACMS newsletters produced three times annually.
  • Prepare communications-related project proposals and budgets, assist in their approval process, and retain budgetary responsibility for their implementation and completion.
  • Serve as liaison to the ACMS Communications & PR committee, the Newsletter committee, the Pathology Question of the Week committee, the Pathology and Immunostaining committee, and the Advocacy Development Program by coordinating activities and providing support as needed to achieve objectives.
  • Direct the development of press releases and media alerts related to key ACMS initiatives and serve as primary point of contact with the media.
  • Direct communication strategies and activities for the annual meeting such as creating and/or editing the registration and final programs, abstract book, onsite signage, meeting app, and audience response functions.
  • Oversee management of media records and reports and recommend strategies to enhance PR opportunities.
  • Direct content, information architecture, and analytics of the ACMS website.
  • Oversee management of social media presence and content by the Membership and Communications Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

5-7 years of communications experience including publications, web, public relations, and social media oversight. Outstanding interpersonal, organizational and communication skills; computer proficiency.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.

TRAVEL REQUIRED:  

Approximately 1-2 weeks per year.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This is a full-time position is located in our office in downtown Milwaukee, WI and a minimum of two days onsite in the office (including Wednesday as an all-staff-in-office day) are a requirement of the role.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (lifting, packaging, etc.)

Ability to lift 50 pounds.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

Occasional evening committee calls via Zoom as needed.
