Prospect Researcher I (Development)

InterVarsity Christian Fellowship seeks a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ to serve as part of our Development Team to further a vibrant campus ministry that establishes and advances witnessing communities of students and faculty. This role will gather donor insights in order to evaluate a prospect’s capacity, propensity, and affinity to give to InterVarsity’s ministry. This information, obtained through research, reporting, analysis, and data collection, enables the entire Development team to determine the best prospects for ministry support.

This part-time position is based at our National Service Center in Madison with option for a hybrid work schedule.

Daily Duties include, but are not limited to

  • Research individuals, corporations, and foundations using a wide variety of sources recording all gathered information in Salesforce in a consistent and uniform manner.
  • Recommend specific prospects and donors to others on the Development team providing proactive leadership for all gift officers’ portfolio reviews.
  • Evaluate and validate discoveries of potential donors and present qualified prospects to Development staff to determine appropriate assignments.
  • Employ knowledge of moves management concepts to provide appropriate support to the Development team in each stage.

Qualifications

  • Annually affirm InterVarsity’s Statement of Faith
  • Bachelor’s degree required with minimum two years of service in development, preferably in the areas of prospect research and/or major gifts
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative analytical and research skills with proficiency in locating relevant information in a variety of formats
  • Experience with InterVarsity and/or other campus college ministries preferred
  • Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement member preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel is required. Additional experience with Salesforce is preferred.

Salary Information

  • Hourly rate: $20.45 – $27.26
  • InterVarsity utilizes a deputized funding model throughout the ministry. This position will develop and communicate with a list of financial and prayer ministry partners on a regular basis to raise an agreed amount of financial support.
