Who We Are: Since 1956, The Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra (MYSO) has been nurturing, challenging and inspiring young minds through music.  MYSO is the largest and one of the most successful and respected after school youth orchestra programs in the nation.  We serve more than 6000 young people ages 8-18, and MYSO is regularly recognized for its artistic excellence.

About the Role: We are looking for a part-time, evening Program Coordinator to join our team.  The Program Coordinator will oversee all evening programming operations at MYSO.  Responsibilities include:

  • Monitoring student behavior during evening programming
  • supporting all MYSO operations (concerts, rehearsals, auditions)
  • Acting as primary contact with MYSO students and families
  • Maintaining our student database.
  • Support student recruiting efforts
  • Execute student financial aid process
  • Volunteer management

NOTE: This is part-time, evening position.  Normal working hours will be 3:30-9:30pm Monday through Thursday. 

What it takes to be our Program Coordinator:  Successful candidates will have previous programming/production experience, a bachelor’s degree in the Arts, Arts Administration or other relevant program or commensurate work experience, and strong commitment to work well with all constituent groups (staff, students and families, volunteers, donors, program participants and other supports).  This position is ideal for someone who:

  • Has classroom management training and experience
  • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to build effective relationships with students and families
  • Strong collaboration, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Passionate about the mission, vision, values and goals of MYSO and bring a deep commitment and empathy for those we serve
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to handle multiple duties/tasks simultaneously
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills
  • Has a high energy level and the ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment
  • Spanish language fluency is preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook.  Database experience preferred

This position requires the ability to travel as needed to attend events; and the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed.

Salary will be commensurate with experience and skills.
