Founding Board President

MMIB is seeking a committed, strategic, and collaborative individual to serve as Founding Board President.

The President provides leadership to the Board of Directors, supports effective governance, and works collaboratively with the Founder & CEO to advance the organization’s mission and long-term sustainability.

This is a working leadership position for someone who understands nonprofit governance and is willing to help build the structures, accountability, and culture of a developing organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate Board of Directors meetings.

• Collaborate with the Founder & CEO on organizational priorities and strategic direction.

• Support board recruitment, development, engagement, and accountability.

• Help establish effective governance practices, policies, and board procedures.

• Ensure board members understand and fulfill their responsibilities.

• Support organizational planning, fundraising efforts, and partnership development.

• Serve as an ambassador for MMIB within professional and community networks.

• Help maintain a collaborative and productive relationship between the Board and organizational leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in nonprofit leadership, governance, administration, or organizational development.

• Previous nonprofit board experience preferred.

• Strong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.

• Ability to lead collaboratively while respecting the responsibilities of the Founder & CEO.

• Commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical leadership.

• Understanding of the communities MMIB serves.

• Capacity to actively participate and follow through on commitments.

Location & Commitment

MMIB is based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Board meetings may be held virtually, with occasional in-person participation.

MMIB is seeking local leadership representation through either its President or Vice President position. Applicants outside the Milwaukee area may be considered depending on the overall board leadership structure.

This is an unpaid volunteer leadership opportunity requiring consistent engagement and participation.
