Start Date: August 19, 2026 (could accommodate an earlier start)
Hours: Full-time and part-time available. Staff work on all scheduled school days, in-service days, meetings, conference care times, and special events. Summer hours may be optional, depending on staffing.
Compensation: $21–$28 hourly, depending on experience. Not benefits eligible.
About this role
You’ll:
- Spend time outdoors every day in our natural playscape with children (in all weather).
- Support lunch, transitions, and daily routines.
- Help children move through the afternoon rest and reset time.
- Supervise outdoor play and ensure children are safe and accounted for.
- Assist with our wrap care program before and after school.
A large part of the role is also practical work that keeps the classroom functioning, including:
- Preparing, copying, and laminating materials.
- Maintaining and organizing classroom supplies.
- Cleaning and resetting the environment.
- Noticing what needs attention and taking care of it.
This job is a lot of small, necessary things done well and consistently. Some parts are active and outdoors. Some are repetitive and practical. Many parts are quiet: watching children work, helping a transition go smoothly, or making sure the environment is ready for the next part of the day. No two days look exactly the same, but the structure is steady.
You might enjoy this job if you:
- Don’t mind sitting on the floor.
- Enjoy spending time outdoors in January as well as June.
- Notice when the pencil basket is empty and refill it without being asked.
- Appreciate routine but can adapt when needed.
- Genuinely enjoy being around young children.
A few practical notes
- Must be comfortable working on the floor, standing for periods of time, and working outside throughout all seasons.
- Professional, respectful communication with children, staff, and families is expected.
- Other duties may be assigned to support the functioning of the classroom and school.
- Experience with Montessori is a plus- but not required!
