ABOUT THE WOMEN’S CENTER
Founded in 1977, our mission is to provide safety, shelter, and support to empower all impacted by domestic abuse, sexual violence, child abuse, and trafficking. We offer 24-Hour Hotline support, an emergency shelter, transitional living, one on one support, support groups, employment and life skills, rape crisis response, and community education. All of our services are confidential and offered at no cost. Our holistic, trauma-informed programming emphasizes healing, empowerment, and justice so that survivors can move beyond abuse and build peaceful futures for themselves and their families.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CHILDCARE SPECIALIST
In this youth serving position, no two days are alike! You will be a part of creating and implementing family strengthening activities with survivors as they heal from the abuse experienced in their life. In addition to caring for children of all ages, you will be collaborating with other Advocates to plan fun and engaging “Fun Nights” for both residential and non-residential families. A key component of this role is to provide a safe and nurturing environment to children.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CHILDCARE SPECIALIST
- HS diploma OR combination of experience working with children in a childcare or education setting
- Knowledge about sexual assault, and domestic violence
- Strong advocacy, listening, and crisis intervention skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and proof of insurance
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
Bilingual abilities would be a plus. Do you have excellent verbal and written communication skills? Are you organized and attentive to detail? Can you manage your time well? WORK SCHEDULE FOR A CHILDCARE SPECIALIST
This human services part-time position typically works Monday 1-6:30, Tuesday 2:30-7:30, Wednesday 2:30-7:30, Thursday 1-6 and Friday 1:30-5.
