Wisconsin Conservatory of Music is pleased to be adding a brand-new position to its Advancement team. The Assistant Director of Communications implements strategy for all WCM publicity, video content, photography, and written communications. Working collaboratively with WCM vendors, including a digital marketing agency, the ADOC supports enrollment and fundraising goals and builds awareness about WCM to current and potential students, donors, alumni and volunteers.

Play a central role in advancing WCM’s mission by developing communications inspiring, equipping and activating internal and external stakeholders

Ensure consistent philanthropic and programmatic messaging, branding, and themes throughout all channels.

Develop and implement integrated communications plans for transformational gift announcements within philanthropy channels.

Attend select WCM recitals, concerts, external events, recruitment, and partner site classes to capture content for distribution. This will include 3-5 night/weekend events per month on average.

Manage vendor and consultant relationships on behalf of WCM, especially photographers, videographers, and editors. Ensure WCM content is captured, edited, and distributed in a timely fashion.

Create and implement a comprehensive PR strategy for WCM’s programs and initiatives.

Manage press list.

Work with digital marketing consultants as needed.

Serve as a trusted communications advisor to multiple senior executives, creating compelling internal content across channels, leadership events, and engagement campaigns, as well as ghost-writing emails, talking points, and scripts.

Work with Assistant Director of Development to create, review, and distribute, high-impact donor-facing communications.

Work with grant writer as needed to create reports and/or supplemental materials for proposals

Collaborate with Education colleagues to ensure enrollment periods are well publicized and supported.

Work with colleagues in all departments to ensure building signage and artwork is dynamic and up to date.

Occasionally provide basic graphic design assistance. Help manage contracted graphic designer workflows.

Qualifications

Strong storyteller, writer, and editor

Experienced in utilizing data-informed strategies

Collaborative, strategic, creative and solutions minded

Knowledge of photography and videography, including editing

Knowledge of basic graphic design principles. Canva experience a plus.

Working knowledge of fundraising communications principles, donor engagement, and stewardship best practices.

Exceptional organizational, analytical, project management, and communications skills.
This position requires in-person work. Occasional hybrid days available.
