About The Opportunity
Wisconsin for Environmental Justice stands at a historic crossroads. As we pioneer a groundbreaking legal strategy designed to shift the financial burden of climate infrastructure remediation away from local taxpayers and back onto corporate polluters, we are seeking a dedicated, strategic Secretary & Treasurer to join our executive leadership.
This is a hands-on opportunity to play a vital, high-impact role in expanding our fiscal foundation and building a lasting environmental and civic legacy in Wisconsin.

Collaborate directly with W4EJ’s two external CPAs—who bring deep expertise in non-profit accounting—to ensure required tax filings, compliance, and proper accounting standards are fully maintained.
- Donation & Grant Review: Work alongside our CPA partners to review the financial details and track requirements of all donations, grants, and restricted funding received by the organization.
- Executive Leadership Collaboration: Meet regularly with the President and Vice President (including periodic face-to-face meetings) to review financial health, align on operational priorities, and advise on strategic decisions.
- Strategic Revenue Growth & Network Expansion
- Donor & Institutional Outreach: Actively engage personal and professional networks to identify, open doors with, and solicit support from individual donors, philanthropic foundations, and funding institutions.
- Fundraising Strategy: Partner with executive leadership to design, refine, and execute sustainable revenue-generation strategies to scale organizational capacity.
- Ambassadorial Engagement: Serve as a bridge between financial partners, stakeholders, and W4EJ’s mission.
- Hands-On Operational Support
- Grassroots Advocacy & Engagement: As part of a lean organization powered by part-time contractors and dedicated leadership, participate in hands-on outreach projects—including staffing informational booths at civic events, meeting with elected officials, and presenting to community groups.
- Brand & Mission Representation: Actively project and safeguard the image, values, and strategic goals of W4EJ in all public and professional interactions.
Desired Qualifications
- Non-Profit Financial Expertise: Demonstrated experience managing finances, budgets, and reporting requirements specific to 501(c)(3) or non-profit organizations.
