W4EJ is looking for a detail-oriented, self-directed intern to take on two interconnected roles: keeping our organizing data accurate and up to date, and helping us show up consistently and compellingly on social media. This is a hands-on position that supports W4EJ’s environmental accountability campaigns from the inside out. Strong performers will be considered for a permanent part-time role after 90 days.

Data Entry & Records Management

  • Enter signed petitions and community contacts into W4EJ’s established database accurately and on schedule
  • Verify and clean incoming data to ensure consistency and completeness
  • Flag duplicates, discrepancies, or missing information for review
  • Maintain organized records of outreach contacts, including elected officials, municipal staff, and community members
  • Support basic database reporting as needed (e.g., contact counts by region, petition totals)

Social Media & Digital Communications

  • Help manage W4EJ’s social media accounts (Twitter/X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube)
  • Create and schedule engaging content including short videos, graphics, and posts tied to W4EJ’s campaigns and priorities
  • Monitor comments and messages; help cultivate an active, responsive online community
  • Assist with maintaining a content calendar aligned to W4EJ’s messaging strategy
  • Track basic analytics (engagement, reach) and flag trends or opportunities
  • Support outreach for virtual events including webinars and Lunch & Learn sessions

Ideal Candidate

  • Strong attention to detail — accuracy is essential for the data side of this role
  • Comfortable working with spreadsheets or databases (Google Sheets, Excel, Salesforce, or similar)
  • Active on social media and familiar with current platform trends and content formats
  • Able to create basic graphics or short video content (Canva, CapCut, or similar)
  • Organized, reliable, and able to balance two distinct workstreams week to week
  • Interest in environmental justice, civic organizing, or government accountability (preferred)
  • Wisconsin resident or strong familiarity with Wisconsin communities (preferred)

Compensation & Path Forward

This is a paid internship at $20/hour for 20 hours per week. Interns who demonstrate reliability and quality work across both responsibilities will be considered for a permanent part-time position after 90 days.
