The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is looking for two part-time (8 hours) transporters to support our community outreach work! We have an opportunity for a dependable, organized individual with excellent communication skills to join our Pets for Life outreach team for part-time Outreach Animal Transport. As an Outreach Animal Transporter, you will make a direct impact by transporting animals to their spay/neuter appointment and supporting a community of people who face barriers to accessing services for their pets.  If you’re looking for the perfect opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and the people who love them, while working with a committed, passionate, fun, and supportive team, apply today! The position is 8 hours a week, with a schedule of two of the following:

  • Wednesday 6:00-10:00 a.m.
  • Wednesday 3:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
  • Thursday 6:00-10:00 a.m.
  • Thursday 3:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Safely and efficiently kenneling animals
  • Driving animals from their homes to their spay/neuter appointment in a WHS cargo van
  • Fostering non-judgmental relationships with clients to ensure their experiences with our organization are positive
  • Effectively communicating information about our services to diverse clientele
  • Ensuring transport and clinic paperwork is accurately and legibly completed

Qualifications

  • Able to work independently and in a team environment
  • Understanding or desire to understand systemic socio-economic issues that affect underserved communities
  • Ability to partner with clients from diverse backgrounds
  • Committed to our organizational values of compassion, respect, and kindness, innovation, professionalism, equity, and positive approach
  • Current driver’s license and clean driving record is required
  • Comfortable driving a cargo van
  • Able to routinely carry 25 and up to 50 pounds
  • Prior client service and/or animal handling experience is a plus

About Us

The Wisconsin Humane Society is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin.  Founded in 1879, WHS operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Racine, Kenosha, Door, Brown, and Kenosha Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. The organization offers adoption services, youth and outreach programs, veterinary resources for the community, retail stores, volunteer programs, and dog training classes.
