The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is looking for two part-time (8 hours) transporters to support our community outreach work! We have an opportunity for a dependable, organized individual with excellent communication skills to join our Pets for Life outreach team for part-time Outreach Animal Transport. As an Outreach Animal Transporter, you will make a direct impact by transporting animals to their spay/neuter appointment and supporting a community of people who face barriers to accessing services for their pets. The position is 8 hours a week, with a schedule of two of the following:
- Wednesday 6:00-10:00 a.m.
- Wednesday 3:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
- Thursday 6:00-10:00 a.m.
- Thursday 3:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Safely and efficiently kenneling animals
- Driving animals from their homes to their spay/neuter appointment in a WHS cargo van
- Fostering non-judgmental relationships with clients to ensure their experiences with our organization are positive
- Effectively communicating information about our services to diverse clientele
- Ensuring transport and clinic paperwork is accurately and legibly completed
Qualifications
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
- Understanding or desire to understand systemic socio-economic issues that affect underserved communities
- Ability to partner with clients from diverse backgrounds
- Committed to our organizational values of compassion, respect, and kindness, innovation, professionalism, equity, and positive approach
- Current driver’s license and clean driving record is required
- Comfortable driving a cargo van
- Able to routinely carry 25 and up to 50 pounds
- Prior client service and/or animal handling experience is a plus

The Wisconsin Humane Society is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin.
