About Washington Park Wednesdays

Washington Park Wednesdays (WPW) is a free outdoor concert series held at the historic Washington Park Bandshell in Milwaukee. Each summer, WPW brings together hundreds of artists, performers, vendors, and community members for a beloved season of music and culture on Milwaukee’s west side. The series is produced and curated by a dedicated volunteer team passionate about accessible, community-centered programming.

Position overview

We’re looking for a creative, motivated individual to join our team as a marketing manager intern for the 2026 season. This is a hands-on opportunity to support social media, community outreach, and promotional efforts for one of Milwaukee’s most celebrated free public events. You’ll work directly with the WPW production team to help build awareness, grow our audience, and capture the energy of the series in real time.

This is an ideal role for someone who loves live music and community events, wants to build real-world marketing experience, and is excited to contribute to Milwaukee’s cultural life.

Responsibilities

  • Create and schedule content across WPW social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook), including show announcements, artist spotlights, and event recaps
  • Attend select Wednesday evening events to capture photos, video, and live coverage for social media ( we also have a professional photographer on staff)
  • Engage with followers and respond to comments and messages to help grow our online community
  • Support promotional outreach to local media, community partners, and event calendars
  • Track and report on engagement metrics and content performance throughout the season
  • Bring creative ideas to the team for campaigns, partnerships, and audience engagement
  • What we’re looking for
  • Enthusiasm for music, community events, and Milwaukee’s cultural scene
  • Comfort with social media platforms and a good eye for engaging content
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Self-starter who can work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision
  • Availability on Wednesday evenings (July 8–August 26) for select event nights
  • Experience with design tools (Canva, Adobe, etc.) or basic photography/videography is a plus — but not required

What you’ll gain

Real-world marketing and event production experience with a well-known Milwaukee institution. Portfolio-worthy content. A behind-the-scenes look at nonprofit community programming. And a summer spent outside, surrounded by great music.

Note: This is currently a volunteer position. WPW is actively working toward offering a stipend for this role in future seasons.
