The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology (AAAAI) is a professional medical society dedicated to advancing the knowledge and practice of allergy, asthma, and immunology. With more than 7,000 members worldwide, AAAAI supports education, research, clinical care, and advocacy to improve patient outcomes. Its work includes publishing leading scientific journals, hosting an annual scientific meeting, providing continuing medical education, advocating for issues impacting physician practice, funding research through its Foundation, and offering resources and tools for both clinicians and the public.
JOB OVERVIEW:
Oversee the successful implementation of leadership development and organizational projects, including program management, committee and volunteer coordination and support of the Executive Director. Provides project management and administrative support across various assemblies and committees, ensuring smooth operations and alignment with organizational goals.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES (minimum of 37.5 hours/week):
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provide direction and management for the Leadership Institute. The Leadership Institute enhances the growth, development and success of AAAAI members by providing three distinct opportunities for leadership advancement (Course, Mentorship Program and Ambassador-Level Leadership Development Program).
- Partner with other constituency groups within the AAAAI to promote leadership offerings.
- Provide direction and management for the New Allergist/Immunologist Section and Allied Health Section activities and programs. Additional committees as assigned.
- Schedule conference calls, assist with agenda development, take minutes, assist with projects, maintain accurate files and drafting letters for all assigned committees.
- Provide some administrative support to the Executive Director.
- Other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Excellent organizational and communication skills; team player; ability to prioritize varied assignments and handle multiple projects; proficiency in Word, PowerPoint; knowledge of Excel, and Outlook.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Experience with volunteer management and Bachelor’s degree preferred.
TRAVEL REQUIRED:
Approximately 1-2 weeks per year. Some weekend and evening work may be required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This is a full-time position located in our office in downtown Milwaukee, WI and a minimum of two days onsite in the office (including Wednesday as an all-staff-in-office day) are a requirement of the role.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: (lifting, packaging, etc.)
Minimal lifting required – usually at meetings or while exhibiting. Ability to move quickly within meeting facilities.
